Navico, the world’s leading manufacturer of marine electronics for the leisure market, has recently concluded its annual conference of independent marine distributors in the Spanish coastal resort of Alicante. During the event, the company recognised and rewarded a number of distributors who have achieved outstanding success in promoting and selling products manufactured by the five Navico brands: B&G, Eagle, Lowrance, Northstar and Simrad.
Prizes were presented to five independent distributors by Thomas Linkenheil, Navico vice president of EMEA sales. Thomas elaborated: "These were very difficult decisions to make due to the sheer volume of sales and effort put in by all distribution channels throughout the EMEA region, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our distributors for their efforts so far this year."
The conference was described as a great success, with many participants saying it was the best they had attended for many years due to the commitment shown by the Navico team and their presentation of an exciting portfolio of new products for the 2009 season and beyond.
The top prize for Navico distributor of the year was awarded to Iiro Haakana and his team at Oy Maritim Ab in Finland (pictured right), who received a cash prize of US$5000. A special Navico innovation award was presented to Lorentz Simonson and his team at Navpoint in Sweden, who were delighted with their US$2500 cash prize.
Other awards were presented to Lowrance and Eagle distributor of the year Matti Säppäla of OPM in Finland; Northstar distributors of the year Damir Konjacic and Hrvoje Tomaskovic of Meridian Projekt in Croatia; and finally to B&G and Simrad distributor of the year Peter Spanos of Aegean in Greece - all of whom received similar cash prizes.
